How to onboard a new person to Amanitas
Since Amanitas has a distributed and non-hierarchical team, onboarding is not managed centrally, but can be done by any existing team member. It is mostly done by Hosts.
When onboarding a new member to the Amanitas Project the goal is to make sure that the new member understands how to participate and collaborate with us. For some people it might be very new to work in a self-organised and decentralised network therefore the initial steps are crucial for new members to feel empowered for participation.
We have some great systems to make remote collaboration easy and a Handbook to give the needed background and tutorials on how to use them. However adding new people to them still happens manually. The following steps help you to add a new member to all our channels - the Gdrive, Slack, Trello, Calendar and Telegram.
Add the new member to the Gdrive by sharing the drive with the new member.
Click on the little icon next to Amanitas and then click on Sharing Settings
Add the new member’s email address and then click on Send
Invite the new member to our Slack channel.
Invite the new member to our Trello Board.
Click on the Members button
Click on Add by Name or Email button
Add the new member to our Telegram group.
Add the new member on your Telegram contact list
Click on the channel’s header
Click on Add Member.
Add the new member to the Google Calendar
Under My calendars look for the Amanitas calendar, move your cursor to the arrow in the right and click on ‘Share this calendar’
Enter the new member’s email address
Change the Permission Settings to: ‘Make changes AND manage settings’ and click on the ‘Save’ button on the bottom of the page
